Enjoy a modern take on sushi with Onigirazu, a “sushi sandwich” recipe that layers tuna, avocado, cream cheese, and sushi rice between sheets of gimme Seaweed's sushi Nori.

This easy-to-make dish combines the flavors of traditional sushi with the convenience of a sandwich, offering a delicious and portable meal option that’s perfect for lunch or a quick snack.

Ingredients

1 can of tuna

2 tablespoons mayonnaise + more for drizzling

2 sheets Gimme Seaweed Sushi Nori

About ½ teaspoon Everything But The Bagel seasoning

2 tablespoons cream cheese

¼ English cucumber, thinly sliced

½ to 1 avocado, sliced

1 cup of cooked and seasoned sushi rice

2 tablespoons shredded carrots

Instructions

  1. Make tuna mixture by combining tuna (if premium, incorporate liquid from the can) and mayonnaise.
  2. Lay a sheet of Gimme Sushi Nori rough side up on your cutting board. Make one cut halfway though to center using a sharp knife or kitchen scissors.
  3. With the cut facing your body, in the closest “front” left square, evenly spread ½ of the tuna mix. Drizzle with mayonnaise and sprinkle with about ¼ teaspoon Everything But The Bagel seasoning.
  4. In the back left square, spread on 1 tablespoon of cream cheese and layer with about 9 thin slices of cucumber.
  5. In the back right square, fan out ¼ - ½ sliced avocado – whatever you prefer!
  6. In the front right square, spread out ½ cup cooked sushi rice and sprinkle on 1 tablespoon shredded carrots.
  7. Fold the wrap from the front left square to the back, then fold that to the right, then fold that again to the front right. It should make a square shape.
  8. You can eat it as is or cut in half with a sharp knife and enjoy!
